Welcome to Weinstein Funeral Homes
![]()
It all began in the 1890’s on Roosevelt road. With an original livery stable of horses and carriages, Weinstein’s began their services in the funeral industry and in the early 1900’s they converted an old bank building into their first funeral home. On Central Park and Roosevelt roads, they began a tradition that would continue for more than a century.
In the 1930’s, our funeral home at 1300 West Devon Avenue was built and later expanded in 1953. The convenient location of this chapel, right off of Lake Shore Drive and so close to Chicago public transportation, makes this a very easy place to get to. This location has been a Jewish landmark in the east Roger’s Park community for the last century. In the early to late 1900’s it was simply the place to go for a Jewish funeral.
1971, the Wilmette chapel opens on Skokie Boulevard. Over the next 10 years, with a shift of the population, this location became the most popular Jewish funeral home in the North Shore. Many of the funeral service trade magazines had articles about the “beautifully landscaped” surrounding to the “most modern funeral home in the United States”. Again the geographic location was/is ideal, because of its close proximity to the Eden’s Expressway…anyone can find us. If you haven’t visited us lately, don’t be surprised by the updated look of our lobby and front office.
With greater resources than ever, and with over 300 combined years of funeral directing experience, we continue to pledge that we will serve the needs of your family with the care and dignity you have come to value for over the last 112 years. We are proud to be the most widely used Jewish funeral home in the greater Chicago-land area and plan to continue to build on our great foundation of service and commitment.
